This is an award paid weekly to students who have reached the school leaving age, normally in S5 and S6, where the family income falls below a certain amount.  It can be applied for at any point in the year up until the end of March although normally it is applied for either at the start of the session or in the first term.  Forms are available from Mrs Reid and are returned to NLC in a stamped addressed envelope.  Remember that although it may not have applied to your household at an earlier stage in the session, if your personal circumstances change you can then make an application.

To be eligible the following apply

Before 30th September 2009 Award will only be processed and paid from the date the application is received if you only applying now/ December.
Between 1 October 2009 and 28th February 2010 4 January 2010

There are different levels of income depending on whether the applicant received EMA last session or you are applying for the first time.

Pupils who received EMA last session (now in S6)

£22,404 - £27,465 £20
£27,466 - £33,156 £10
Over £33,156 No Award

New Applicants

There will only be one award at £30.

For families with 1 child in full time education  (including Further Education) 0 - £20,351
For families with more than 1 child in full time education (including Further Education) 0 - £22,403
