Extra Curricular Activities
We pride ourselves in the fact that we offer a wide range of extra curricular activities which we feel help develop and widen our pupils experience and develop their ability to work with others, a skill in great demand when they enter the World of Work.
Many of the activities are offered at lunch time, after school and on week-ends. A weekly timetable of events is printed in the weekly Pupil Bulletin which is read out at registration and displayed around the school notice boards.
In the area of SPORTS the following are on offer: football, hockey ( cups won in both areas in 2004),volleyball, basketball, trampolining, gymnastics, badminton, weight lifting.
In MUSIC: choir, jazz band, brass band.
Other areas where clubs are available; astronomy ( one of the few across the authority), science, geography, REACH, enterprise.
The Pupil Support Team along with other staff organise and run the Christmas Dances, day trips, charity events.
The House Officials and Prefects are involved in organising and running many events within the school such as Halloween Party for S1/2. They also work with Mrs Magowan in fund raising events eg Come as you please day.
In addition throughout the session many departments run excursions linked to their subject. In recent years there have been overseas holidays arranged during the summer holiday period, including an Italian trip organised by the Art department. Participation in any activity is dependant on good behaviour and pupils may be prevented from attending any of the above if their conduct in school gives cause for concern. Music is a very important area of the school and we have re-introduced school concerts and school shows thanks to the efforts of many staff.
